20th Century Antique Ivory Ball Dress

A creamy ivory couture ball gown with glitter detailing. This gown features a drop waist, relaxed yet voluminous sleeves and button details up the back. This gown is vintage and one of a kind dating from c. 1960-70.

Who designed this gown?

The fact is, we don't actually know and likely never will. 

This gown does not have any label or branding, it has sizing notes (vintage size 18) which are obsolete in terms of contemporary sizing and how we buy clothing off the rack in 2024. The mystery of this gown's parentage is fascinating and something any vintage or antique collector runs into quite often. The lack of designer does not belittle the value of this vintage piece, rather is amplifies it - this was a dress made custom for or fitted to someone. It is incredibly made, the seams, glitter and stitching are in near perfect condition which is particularly wonderful given this dress is at least 50 years old.
